PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORT
Physical Education and Sport play an important part in the development of all Trinity students.
Many life skills such as team work, co-operation with others and the ability to strive for success against difficulties are valuable lessons that the boys learn from an involvement in sport.
Trinity prides itself on the conduct and sportsmanship of students on the sporting field. The College has high expectations of behaviour which include accepting decisions of umpires, and accepting victory or defeat graciously.
PSA Sport
Trinity College is a member of the Public Schools Association (PSA) and participates in a year round inter-school sports programme with the six other PSA schools.
As with other PSA schools, Trinity requires a strong commitment from its students to participate in team sports. It is a condition of enrolment that PSA commitments take precedence over other commitments. Boys who may be involved in other external activities will need to make arrangements that will enable them to participate fully in the PSA programme.
It is recognized that students who have been selected to play for Western Australia in a sporting team should represent their state. In such cases a mutually satisfactory compromise arrangement regarding PSA sport and training should be negotiated with the Sportsmaster or Principal.
In Terms 1 and 4 the following sports comprise the PSA "official" summer competition:
- cricket, tennis, swimming, water polo, volleyball basketball and rowing.
In Term 2 and the first half of Term 3 the following sports comprise the winter competition:
- rugby union, cross country, football, hockey, Badminton and soccer.
In the second half of Term 3 the PSA sport is Athletics.
Training is conducted for all sports (excluding swimming and rowing) on Monday and Wednesday afternoons for Middle School (Years 8 - 9), and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for the Senior School (Years 11 - 12).
