Pilgrimage #8 INDIA PILGRIMS’ RETREAT
by Tom Rose
The Retreat saw the whole group come together and actually live and work with each other for three days. During these three days we took part in many sessions of preparation led by Br Rob, as well as sharing meals and free time, with the whole group together. Some sessions included really getting to know the group as individuals and getting comfortable as an individual within the group, while other sessions were about what to expect in India, how to cope with situations and organisational formalities.

The Retreat helped the group of different personalities and friendships come together as one. Students also got to learn more about the teachers going with us and to appreciate their commitment. Probably the most interesting part of the retreat was the realisation of what we are going to do and the emotions experienced when reflecting on it. At times during the retreat the excitement and eagerness in the group to get to India was greater than it had ever been. At the same time when the thoughts and reality of what we would face hit the group, suddenly excitement turned into almost being scared and worried about the reality of India, but never at any stage did anyone regret putting their name down.
These experiences, sessions and time together, were a reality check and an extremely positive step towards fully preparing ourselves for India.
