The opening of the P.L. Duffy Resource Centre
Our P.L. Duffy Resource Centre was officially opened
on 8 April, 1979. It was blessed by the Most Rev. R Healy, Auxiliary
Bishop of Perth. It was named for Rev, Br. Patrick Leo
Duffy C.F.C. B.A., Headmaster of Trinity College 1938-1941. Brother
Duffy was headmaster of the school in the city during the difficult
war years and at the time when the boarders transferred to the new
site at Mt. Henry called Aquinas College. Br. Duffy held many responsible
positions in the Order during his more than 60 years as a Christian
Brother, including twelve years in Rome as an assistant to the Superior
General of the Christian Brothers. Because of his outstanding contribution
to the school and his continued interest in its progress the library
was named for him.
The building complex housing the library was designed
by architects N. Rees and P. Pritchard of Oldham, Boas, Ednie-Brown
& partners and built by the Gladwell Building Company. Funding
was provided by the Commonwealth government and the loans from to
the Trinity Development Fund
