The summer sport season finished up last weekend, with the Year 12's representing Trinity for the last time. Today at the Summer Sport Assembly, we heard from each of the summer sport captains, and acknowledged and congratulated all of the students for their efforts over the season.

Following the opening prayer and a performance from the Senior Classical Guitar Ensemble, Mr O'Neill gave his Principal's address. Mr O'Neill congratulated all of the students on the sportsmanship, sense of pride, respect and fair play that he witnessed each week at training and fixtures. He also thanked the many staff who have given their time to coach these teams, as well as the parents and families who have supported their sons throughout the season. He shared a quote from American writer H. Jackson Brown, "Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece - by thought, choice, courage, and determination," and commended students on being humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

Mr Leahy then presented the Service & Contribution and the Fairest & Best awards to students from each team, except the 1st teams, as those awards will be presented at Presentation Night later this year. Following awards, the audience heard from the captain of each team, as they introduced their teammates and shared a summary of the highs and lows of their season. It was a good season for all teams, with the PSA results below:

  • Rowing: 1st - Winners of the Hamer Cup
  • Cricket: 2nd place
  • Basketball: 3rd place
  • Volleyball: 3rd place
  • Swimming: 3rd place
  • Tennis: 4th place
  • Water polo: 6th place
