New initiatives, such as MindMatters and The Big Splash WA are being incorporated into the program, with activities and guest speakers scheduled for Mental Health Week, R U OK Day, and the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence.
The Big Splash WA is a program run by the Perth Children’s Hospital to raise awareness and funds for the Hospital’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit. This initiative is a mass public art event that will take place in the streets, public spaces and parks of Perth and the surrounding area. Local artists and local schools have been given a dolphin statue that they will decorate, which will then be displayed as part of the exhibit in Perth.
As a school, Trinity will also receive a mental health education pack which is being compiled by clinical experts and provides ways for children to become actively engaged with their own mental health in an age appropriate manner.
The Year 7 class is responsible for decorating the Trinity dolphin. Stay tuned for more photos of the completed project!
