Catholic Performing Arts Festival

We received notice this week that our Junior Vocal Ensemble won the Shield for best overall performance for the Archbishop Foley award for Primary Sacred Choral. Congratulations on a fantastic performance. On Tuesday evening, Lennox McGrath (6B) received his award in the Angelico Art Exhibition for his second placement in the 3-Dimensional Art section for Years 3 - 6. Also, a marvellous effort. Tonight, BIG perform their dance routine at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Good luck to the boys. Next week is a busy week for the boys involved in Catholic Performing Arts. The Junior Vocal Ensemble perform on Monday, the Year 4 and Year 5/6 choirs perform on Tuesday and the Wind Ensemble perform on Friday evening. Good luck to all involved.

The Junior School House Athletics Carnival will be taking place next Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, some of the boys are involved in jumps and the 800m, and on Thursday there is a range of team and individual events. Parents are most welcome to come and support their boys. The boys have the opportunity to have a sausage sizzle lunch, this is only available via pre-order, by completing the form and sending to Mrs Bush with the correct money by Tuesday. Parents and siblings are also welcome to order a sausage sizzle, via their son’s class.

Prefects' Corner

This week was pretty exciting. On Thursday, the Year 6 Gifted and Talented group went to the Junior da Vinci Decathlon. They did very well in the competition but sadly they didn’t win anything. On Friday, we had a busy morning with the BIG boys leaving for practice for their performance on Friday night, and the Junior Vocal Ensemble performing at the Auxiliary morning tea. It was also the day of the book week parade. All the costumes were fantastic and the judges (Mr Tucker and Ms Temmen) had a really hard time choosing the winners from each class. All up it was a great week filled with loads of fun.

Science Week

National Science Week 2017 is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology with the emphasis to sustain our planet for future generations. National Science Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of Australian scientists’ to the world of knowledge. It also aims to encourage an interest in science pursuits among the general public, and to encourage young people to become fascinated by the world we live in.

Our College also took part in the celebration of Science Week, and students from Junior and Senior schools participated in several events and activities throughout Week 5. Junior students enjoyed a series of chemistry presentations that combine explanation, interaction and amazing demonstrations of science effects. Students were also provided with an opportunity to take part in hands on activities to explore and examine static electricity using physics apparatus such as Vader graph.

Book Week Photo Competition

The P.L. Duffy Library are holding a photography competition for students. Students are encouraged to take a photo with the theme #escapetoeverywhere in mind. See the flyer below for competition guidelines #tcspirit!

NEPAL Go Fund Me

A group of boys are going to Nepal at the end of the year, with the funds donated going towards our community project. Our project will take place in either Kathmandu Valley, which will consist of building schools or likewise for the locals in the area. Another option to where the funds will be going is to Pokhara, where they will be used to help the locals build and fix their water management reducing floods and diseases. All donations are greatly appreciated and will be used to help out the less fortunate. To donate click here:

The services also include in-home nursing assistance with wound-care, continence management, and medication management.
