Meet our teachers: Ms Lisa Laurino

Ms Laurino has been teaching at Trinity for 10 years. She is the College's Drama Coordinator and has been instrumental to the success of our drama program and recent productions. As the 2020 College production of 'The Mikado' is just a few weeks away, we thought this was the perfect time to ask Ms Laurino to share more about her Trinity experience.

Can you describe one of your favourite teaching moments at Trinity?

It is difficult to pick just one. My senior school classes have provided incredible teaching opportunities and the students in these classes work hard and are highly motivated. There are also the wonderful middle school drama electives where we have a lot of fun and create some outstanding performances. Every year the school production is certainly a highlight and to this end, I cannot choose one favourite teaching moment, there are too many!

What are you most looking forward to in 2020?

The College’s production of The Mikado!! The cast and crew have been working incredibly hard and we are so pleased with how the show is coming together. I cannot wait for our community to see the musical.

What inspired you to be a teacher?

Initially, I started working in journalism/media and came to Trinity to do some relief. I was given wonderful opportunities to build Drama at the College and realised this was something I was far more passionate about. It was the student’s enthusiasm that inspired me to move into teaching. It is an incredibly rewarding vocation and I have never looked back.

If you weren't a teacher, what would you be doing?

I think I'd do something in theatre...perhaps a director in professional theatre or work for a professional theatre company in some capacity.
