End of Term
We conclude the last week of what has been a very busy term. Amidst an array of College events, winter sports, athletics carnivals, the Catholic Performing Arts Festival and various assemblies, excursions and presentations, I have continued to urge our students to finish with excellence. This is particularly true for our senior Year 12 boys as they enter the final stages of their formal schooling and prepare for their College Graduation. In recent weeks, all Year 12 students have been busy completing final assessment items and preparing for upcoming exams. Throughout this final week of term, many of our Year 12 students have commenced their Semester 2 examinations. These important exams will continue in the second week of the ‘holidays’. Similarly, some of our students who enrolled in practical courses will take part in their respective WACE Practical Examinations throughout next week.
This is all part of their preparation for the written WACE examinations that commence on 1 November. As always, we wish the boys well during this busy time and remind them that hard work and commitment brings due reward. We are proud of our Year 12 Class and look forward to joining them in celebrating their Graduation on 21 October.
We are also very much looking forward to our annual Secondary School Presentation Night which will be held on Tuesday, 19 October commencing at 7.00pm. Returning to the Perth Concert Hall this year, extensive planning and preparation has been underway for several weeks as we seek to acknowledge our respective Student Award recipients and showcase some of our talented students through a variety of performances. Notification to Student Award recipients for Years 7-10 has been emailed to families today, with families of Award recipients in Years 11 and 12 for both General Subjects and ATAR courses to be emailed in due course. These emails outline specific details on how families can book tickets for this event which is also a wonderful occasion for celebrating our sense of community.
As is normally the case in a large school such as Trinity College, we will see some staff changes at the end of this term.
Mrs Lisa Webb (Religious Education) will enjoy some leave during weeks 3-9. We wish her a wonderful, relaxing and fulfilling break. We acknowledge Mr Morgan Ward (Mathematics) and Mr Matthew Riley (Religious Education) who have completed respective short-term positions. We thank them for their many contributions and wish them well for the future. We also acknowledge Mr Nick Kros for completing his role as Acting Head of Year 8 over the past few weeks and thank him for his great work and generous service to the boys. We also welcome back Mr David Allan (Head of Year 8) and Mr Chris Brennan (Religious Education) who are returning from a period of extended leave.
Finally, I take this opportunity to thank the staff, students and their families for their efforts and support during this busy Term 3. The students will commence next term on Tuesday, 12 October and they should be dressed in their full College summer uniform. Please note that Monday, 11 October is a scheduled Staff Professional Development Day.
I hope that everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing holiday break.
Live Jesus in our hearts
Mr. Darren O’Neill
