College-Provided Laptop Program & Bring Your Own Device Program

College-Provided Laptop Program (CPLP) Overview
The CPLP is Trinity College’s initiative to ensure every secondary student has access to a secure, reliable, and standardised educational laptop that supports learning both in the classroom and at home. This program begins in 2026, starting with Year 7 and Year 10 students, and will expand to all secondary year groups by 2028.

Why CPLP?

- Every student uses a college-managed device, reducing compatibility issues and ensuring equal access to digital resources.
- Devices are pre-configured with required software, security settings, and access to learning platforms.
- Support & Warranty: On-site technical support, accidental damage protection, and warranty included.
- Digital Wellbeing: Managed environment to minimise distractions and maintain compliance with ICT policies.

Key Features

Device Specs:
- Windows 11 Professional, 16GB RAM, 256GB+ SSD, touchscreen with stylus, USB-C charging, Wi-Fi 6, and corporate-grade antivirus.
- Accessories: Protective carry case and stylus included.
- Cycle: Three-year rolling cycle – new device in Year 7 and replacement in Year 10.
- Return Policy: Devices are returned at the end of the cycle for secure decommissioning. Families returning devices in good condition receive a credit.

Transition from BYOD

BYOD will be phased out over three years. Students in Years 8, 9, 11, and 12 in 2026 may opt into CPLP if their current device is outdated or incompatible. The financial arrangements for these students will differ from those for students in Year 7 and 10.
