Middle Years Academics

An academic structure that enables a smooth transition to secondary school

The College aims to provide a transition structure enabling students to easily adapt to a secondary school environment. As well as studying compulsory subjects, students will experience some optional subjects on a rotational basis that reflect the Western Australian Curriculum requirements.

In Year 7, elective courses are offered in Digital Technologies & Design Technologies, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. Students will also study Italian and have a transition class aimed at helping them adjust to Secondary School at Trinity – this class benefits all Year 7 boys, whether they are moving up from our Junior School or have been welcomed to Trinity from other schools.

In Years 8–9, in addition to their core compulsory subjects, your son will have an excellent range of elective subjects from which to choose. The wide-ranging combination of core and elective subjects is designed to provide for the interests and academic needs of each boy.

Academic Extension

Academic Extension is offered through the Flexible Learning Enhancement Program (FLEX). This bespoke Gifted & Talented elective class program is offered to selected students in Years 8, 9 and 10. Students are invited to participate based on outstanding potential, achievements or contributions that they exhibit through their academic studies.

Education Support

Trinity College offers extensive and effective Education Support facilities. Specialist teachers work with families and school staff to develop dynamic individual education programs for students in Years 7–12 with diagnosed disabilities as well as those who need a bit of extra support.

All boys at Trinity College benefit from this inclusive approach within our College community. A range of programs such as the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) cater for the individual needs of each of our students.

Our goal is to see each boy be the best he can be, lead a fulfilling life and become an active and responsible citizen of the future.
